In the attempt to understand their origins, human beings take various steps – read, study, research, etc. This search of roots positions them in either of these categories: creation (God) or evolution (science).  In some instances, they become hybrids i.e. a bit of both.

According to the dictionary, creation is the action creating; and to create is to cause (something) to exist, to make something new or original.

Whereas, evolution is a gradual development of the characteristics (of plants or animals) over many generations; in particular, the development of more complicated forms from earlier, simpler forms. This is the Darwins theory of evolution.

It is scientifically accepted that human beings are animals.
In order, to help our understanding of the two theories, we are going to use the bible to explain the creation and Darwins theory for the evolutionists.

In the first book of the bible i.e. Genesis, the origin of the universe, the human race, sin, etc. are being exposed.

It is also important to note that the author of Genesis is commonly accepted as being Moses. The book of Genesis has fifty chapters and only one is devoted to the subject of creation that is the first chapter. Genesis 1 v 1: ˜In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. This is a very important verse for believers.  It sets the scene for Christians to believe in the word of God, as it is inspired and true.  Moreover, it is required of Christians to have faith in God.  Faith is defined in Hebrews 11 v 1 as ˜the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Then, in verse 6, it says ˜But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he IS…”.

As for Christians, it is clear that God is the Creator. Man is the last, not the least, in the creation on the sixth day of the creation process. Genesis 1 v 26 ˜And God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.”

Genesis 1 v27 ˜So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”.

God has created, has let things to be, and has made things.  Man is an exceptional creation because he is formed; man is the only creature out of matter “dust of the ground.”

Genesis 2 v 7 ˜And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”.

On the other hand, the evolutionists suggest that the present man is a product of metamorphosis over the years.

This hypothesis is weak because as we go backwards in time, we can’t find a plausible explanation for the matter that is at the origin of the first form of life. We hear things such as man derives from chimpanzee (I don’t believes so, or better I am not one of them). This is a limitation of the theory.

The scientific scholars have also retrieved fossils, which prove that the earth is older than six thousands years i.e. four thousands years before the birth of Jesus and two thousands after his birth.

The issue of timing from creation up to now is very divisive, even among believers.

Shall believers do not have discussions with the scientists?

The hybrid-types are the Christian and/or scientists who believe that God has kept certain things from man’s understanding. Man, being the last creation, lots of other creatures have witnessed his creation but without him knowing when the others were created.

The fossils, which are millions and millions of years old, can only fit if we take Isaiah 24 v 1 ˜Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth the inhabitants thereof”.

The parallel can be drawn with Genesis 1 v2 ˜And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”.
God has created, has let things to be, and has made things.  The difference in the meanings and origins of words can possibly enlighten us (not covered here).

There is some compliment with these verses about the age of the earth and what science is saying that the universe is much older. In all this, faith in God is what matters.  He is the Creator of Heaven and earth and of everything, seen and unseen by human beings.

On a final note, children are being taught all sorts of theories including the unscriptural theory of evolution.
